The five minutes that make a good session

You have got five minutes with people you have never met. Here is what to do with them.

The five minutes that make a good session

A session is short. Most of what separates a good one from a bad one happens in the first thirty seconds.

Say hello properly

A client who feels relaxed takes a better photo. Introduce yourself, say what is about to happen, and they stop bracing.

Watch your framing and your level

Two things go wrong more than anything else: the frame cuts off the thing they came for, and the horizon runs downhill. Check both before you press the button, and check them again when you move.

Give one instruction at a time

Turn slightly left. Chin down a little. Walk towards me. People cannot process three at once, and they look stiff while they try.

Finish clearly

Tell them you are done and check they are happy before you walk away. They do not need to stand there while the files move: the photos upload on their own and arrive in their app shortly after. Saying so is the part they rate.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Personal Paparazzi session take?

What goes wrong most often?
Framing and level. The frame cuts off the thing they came for, or the horizon runs downhill. Check both before you press the button, and again whenever you move.
Does the client have to wait for the photos to upload?
No. Tell them you are done, check they are happy, and walk away. The photos upload on their own and arrive in their app shortly after.

Out and about anyway? Get paid for the photos.
